Job title: Account Manager

Reporting to: Account Director, Associate Account Director

Direct Reports: Account Executives

Location: Beijing

Key Working Relationships: Data Service Team, Creative Teams, Studio

 

Job Summary:

The role of Account Manager is mainly to provide key internal support to relevant client related activity.  Working closely with AAD/AD, he or she will ensure strategy and creative output in a timely manner; assist in cost estimation, creative briefing and campaign management/analysis.

 

Main responsibilities:

Client Service and Project related

  • Establish requirements of brief and work with AAD/AD to develop creative brief
  • Effectively delegate specific tasks based on Brief requirements.
  • Assist in the co-ordination, writing and verbal briefing of internal and external resources as required e.g. creative, production, third party specialists etc.
  • Achieve worthwhile output from brainstorms.
  • Co-ordinate creative and project management aspects of Agency’s response to client brief.
  • Evaluate the response in terms of quality and likely revenue.
  • Assist in presenting/selling the response.
  • Obtain feedback from Client.
  • Project implementation and monitor progress against plan
  • Prepare weekly WIP reports as required and other documents/materials for internal and external meetings.
  • Produce accurate contact reports following any contact with client – give Clients contact reports within 24 hours of meetings.
  • Provide Client and Team with feedback on project on a daily/”need-to-know” basis.
  • Provide updates to budgets and help Managers ensure timing plans are fully up to date.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of each process involved in a project and execute actions required when they arise.
  • Ensure that all materials get to markets on time and in the most cost efficient way.

Non-Project Specific

  • Manage client relationship on a day-to-day basis.
  • Make relevant contribution in areas where you are non-revenue accountable – Brainstorms, Team Meetings, and maintaining the Agency’s image and personality.
  • Be a leading star in the use and contribution to the Truffles knowledge database

Client Relationship

Ÿ   Ensure provision of client services are of a quality consistent with Agency standards, as judged by AD/BD.

Ÿ   Become the focal point of client contact as judged by the client.

Ÿ   Maintain a close and effective client relationship

Creative

  • Main contact for Creative team
    • Ensure creative team’s motivation and working processes.

People Management

Ÿ   Set up a development programme to enable an account executive to reach minimum job standards within agreed period.

Ÿ   Ensure all subordinates complete company induction programme.

Ÿ   Motivate, develop and appraise staff in conjunction with AD/BD.

Communication/Presentation

Ÿ   To be able to clearly, comprehensively and logically present from concepts to costings.

Demonstrate ability to brief, inform and motivate subordinates, as judged by AD.

Job title: Account Director

Key Working Relationships:      Director Data Consulting, Consulting, Creative Teams and ECD, Account Director peer group in OgilvyOne and Ogilvy Group

 

Job Summary:

The Account Director is responsible for maintaining strong client relationships and for the output of excellent one-to-one direct marketing (online and offline) and creative strategies.

The Account Director must use his/her experience of the discipline to drive constant improvement. The job scope covers: client service, development of customer insights based on data, development of direct marketing and interactive communication strategies and lead generation programs, supervision of campaign executions, management of Fulfillment, Data and Telemarketing partners.

Main responsibilities:

Client Service

  • Senior client contact for Marketing Director, DG, Interactive and CRM Manager
  • Responsible for ensuring Client satisfaction and handling strategic issues or problem resolution of one-to-one marketing  issues
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the marketplace and our Client’s business including various media and distribution channels
  • Pro-active strategic proposals for customer management  business opportunities
  • Be accountable for the security of our Client’s business
  • Contribute and if appropriate lead new business pitching opportunities

Internal OgilvyOne

  • Management of Account Managers to ensure progression and achievement of objectives
  • Financial control of billings
  • Work with Creative and Technology teams to drive measurement and understanding of creative formats and technologies

Project Supervision

  • Drive profitable client relationships
  • Effectively manage and interpret Client feedback
  • Oversee project creative briefings
  • Develop working relationship with Account Managers and Executives to ensure that once briefed the campaign/project runs forward smoothly
  • Be first stop for resolving problems raised by Account Managers and Executive
  • Project implementation:
    • Take responsibility for overall project management
    • Identify specific tasks and delegate s appropriate to specialists or project team
    • Manage people, finances and external resources
    • Monitor progress against plan, pre-empt and if necessary resolve shortfalls
  • Identify and manage risk within acceptable limits involving your BD as appropriate

Measurement

  • Responsible for the supervision of campaign results reporting (by Data Team)
  • Supervise integration of all campaign metrics
  • Obtain campaign improvement insights based on data
  • Coordination with MOne for online media strategy

Creative

  • Ensure creative teams motivation and working processes. Ensure linkage with Advertising team for joint briefs
  • Oversee project briefings (both written & actual briefing) & client approval
  • Provide creative judgement
  • Ensure superb, impactful and innovative creative development – in line with client’s requirements and brand print

Personnel and People Management

Ÿ   Work with BD/GAD to project future account team personnel requirements and overcome any existing issues.

Ÿ   Manage the workload, working with other OgilvyOne colleagues to optimise efficiency and spread the load as necessary, providing feedback to your BD/GAD on planning and any issues.

Ÿ   Ensure any new staff under your responsibility undergoes a formal induction programme which covers the Client’s business, Agency procedures and any specific areas where they may need additional information/introduction.

Ÿ   Assume responsibility, both on-going and for the formal appraisal of personnel specifically reporting to you and support your peers with input in other Team members’ appraisals as relevant.

Ÿ   Provide the necessary guidance including realistic/specific objectives and recommend training as appropriate to develop individuals to meet the needs of our Client’s business.

Ÿ   Ensure appraisals take place within the correct time frame, involving your BD/GAD in the process and making your recommendations regarding that individual prior to the appraisal.

Ÿ   Take responsibility for management and motivation of account team members to allow them to achieve maximum potential.

Ÿ   Take responsibility/objectivity for highlighting sub-standard performance of personnel within you team and work with your BD/GAD to ensure the necessary decision/action is taken.

Communication/Presentation

Ÿ   Maintain a consistently high standard of presentation and documentation by all team members.

Ÿ   Always endeavour to practice a major presentation with all participants prior to the event.

Ÿ   Take ownership of quality of creative response in conjunction with Creative Director.

Ÿ   Lead by example and take an active participation in the use and contribution to Truffles and knowledge management.

Corporate

Ÿ   Comply with Agency reporting procedures and ensure all practices and systems are followed.

Ÿ   Ensure you and your subordinates are aware of and sell/utilise the Ogilvy specialist services, eg. 360, Consulting, etc.

Ÿ   Ensure you and your Team attend any training sessions organised by Client or Agency.

Ÿ   Ensure regular upward communication takes place.

Ÿ   Take an active part in Company brainstorms, events etc, generally contributing to the culture of the Agency.

 

Financial Management

Ÿ   Ensure Production Estimates are adhered to or any need for amendments to Production estimate are discussed and agreed with the Client as early as possible during a project.

Ÿ   Provide monthly feedback summary on Client billings including providing input to Billings Summary.

Ÿ   Take responsibility for any Aged Debts and ensure Purchase Orders are raised for suppliers.

Ÿ   Ensure/evaluate purchasing efficiency of production of all materials on behalf of our Client, e.g. obtaining a number of quotations; seeking more efficient delivery methods/systems/suppliers.

Ÿ   Demonstrate awareness of need to achieve quarterly targets and understanding of management of finances and Client budgets at year end, ie. managing projects from one year’s budgets to the next/accruing funds from previous year etc .

Ensure adherence to the client contract agreements where appropriate for all man hours’ fees and third party costs.
